In order to establish this classification, WalletHub analyzed 100 major cities in the country. They identified 23 key indicators and then categorized them into three main topics. They were; pet budget, outdoor pet friendliness, and pet health and welfare.
“Pet companionship is a great way to reduce stress, and nearly 90.5 million households with pets in the United States want to live in places where their beloved companions can live long and healthy lives. health without breaking the bank,” they said.
#2 Ranked Tampa
Slightly edged out by Scottsdale, Arizona, Tampa shone here. The health and welfare of pets was the area where Tampa ranked highest (#3). Additionally, Tampa topped the list for the number of veterinarians per capita.
St. Petersburg ranked #3
Equally fascinating is the fact that St. Pete was strong enough to branch out and claim his own top spot. In fact, this urban region ends just behind Tampa. Both finished with the same results when it came to pet budget, but Tampa fared slightly better when it came to outdoor pet friendliness.
On the Central Avenue of St. Petersburg you will even find a place called Mutts and Martinis. This large sports bar offers an on-site dog play area. “With over 25 streaming sports TVs and a dog-only pool, you can both take time to relax,” Visit St. Pete Clearwater States.
In total, Visit Tampa Bay rated dog hiking as one of the best activities to do in the entire Tampa area. Plus, they exclaim, “It’s a dog’s life in Tampa Bay.” »
Honorable mention
Orlando (ranked #15), Miami (ranked #20), Hialeah (ranked #48) and Jacksonville (ranked #51) also represented Florida among the most pet-friendly cities in America. Orlando was the top city in terms of the most dog-friendly restaurants per capita.
