A Great Pyrenees found wandering the streets of Fort Bend County, Texas, became the most loving surrogate mother and rescuer of six abandoned puppies in late October.
Nova les Grandes Pyrénées was a stray dog found by a good Samaritan. And his story is as beautiful as his heart.
On October 26, the Fort Bend County Animal Services posted on its Facebook page an urgent need for foster or rescue for six one-week-old puppies.
According to PEOPLEthe puppies were brought to the animal shelter on October 24. The animal shelter wrote in a job, “At only a week old, they need to be bottle-fed.”
And just hours after the post was posted, the animal shelter shared: “Our puppies from litter D are no longer bottle babies! »
Because by chance, on October 25, a Good Samaritan found a lost Pyrenees shepherd, full of milk, but without puppies.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Fort Bend County Animal Services Director Rene Vasquez said they knew the shelter made the right choice after witnessing Nova and the puppies’ first moments together.
“Nova was so happy to see the puppies! She adopted them straight away and they were very happy to have a mother and food! » Vasquez said.
And thanks to Nova’s maternal instinct and commitment, the puppies are doing well.
Vasquez said “We were so happy that Nova was able to step in and be a mom to them. Sometimes it’s hard to find bottles and foster homes when the puppies or kittens are so small, so having a nursing mother available to accept the babies is definitely a good day.
Currently, Nova and the puppies, five boys and one girl, all live in foster care.
And last week, Nova’s adoptive parent sharing that Nova was officially enrolled in the Fort Bend County Animal Services system so she could finally adopt Super Mom.
Nova’s adoptive parent also said the six puppies would also be put up for adoption after they were weaned.
Vasquez revealed, “The puppies will stay with Nova until they are weaned, then we will start looking for homes for them. They will also be vaccinated, microchipped and repaired before going to their forever home.
