Want an easy way to keep your dog’s face clean, without resorting to a full bath or grooming session? A leave-in facial cleanser might just be the answer!
We recently learned of the existence earthbath® Foaming Facial Cleanser for dogs and I had the opportunity to test it with our Isla. As a 12 month old dog she is on the move all the time when a full bath is a big event. With its white fur, the area around its mouth is particularly prone to getting dirty. So I was eager to see if there was a way to clean your face quickly, easily and safely.

We received this earth bath product; all opinions and statements are entirely ours (and Isla’s!)
What is Earthbath Foaming Facial Cleanser?
This gentle foaming facial cleanser is specially formulated for your dog’s delicate face and designed to remove dirt, lighten tear stains and clean facial creases.
This product is formulated to be compatible with dogs with skin sensitivities or allergies and can be used on puppies six weeks of age and older.
This facial cleanser is designed to be a leave-in formula, so you can either put it on your dog’s fur and then wipe it with a warm, damp cloth, or let it dry then wipe it with a towel. I used a Earthbath Microfiber Face Towel.
Facial cleanser can be used daily on your dog’s face, but be sure to keep it out of his eyes and ear canals.
What does facial cleanser contain?
The list of ingredients is simple:
- purified water
- renewable plant-based and coconut cleaners
- Vitamin E
- organic aloe vera
- blueberry seed oil
- blueberry seed oil
- phenoxyethanol (an organic chemical compound often used as a preservative in cosmetic products)
I know you know all the benefits of blueberries, but if you’re like us, you started wondering about blueberries as soon as you heard the name!
Bilberry seed oil is derived from the seeds of the bilberry plant, a close relative of bilberries and bilberries. The bilberry is native to Northern Europe (that’s why we don’t know about it!) and is known for its dark blue-black fruits and its medicinal properties.
Blueberry seed oil contains essential fatty acids, including omega-3 and omega-6. These fatty acids are beneficial for your dog’s skin health and have anti-inflammatory properties. The oil is rich in antioxidants, including vitamin E and anthocyanins. These compounds help protect your dog’s skin from oxidative stress and environmental damage.
If, like us, you’re wondering if an oil from these dark fruits is safe to use on light-haired dogs, the answer is yes. The facial cleanser (which as you can see is white foam) can be used on any coat color. So I prepared to implement it on Isla’s white fur!

Our experience
Isla’s favorite thing to do in the world is play fetch. She loves balls (so much so that we have to keep them in a drawer when not in use).
However, his saliva spreads all over the ball and soon all over the fur surrounding his mouth. This wet fur then picks up dirt during his fetch games, resulting in lots of dried dirt and saliva around his mouth.
I decided to wash Isla’s face with the foaming facial cleanser, first combing her face with a steel comb (to separate the fur matted by saliva and let the facial cleanser coat all fur to skin).
Then I put a small amount of wash in my hand and wiped it on my mouth.

I used my fingers to work it into the fur, then wiped it with a warm, damp microfiber facial towel.

The result?
There was a NOTICEABLE reduction in dirt around his mouth (which was then easy to see on the napkin). This little mini-bath that only took a few minutes didn’t bother her; she didn’t try to lick his face or scratch his face (and didn’t jump up to try to roll into anything!)
I am very pleased with the results and look forward to cleansing her face with Earthbath Foaming Facial Cleanser every few days to help prevent spots and reduce dirt on her face. I loved that it was a leave-in formula (especially with the cold weather approaching) and I love that I could feel safe with its ingredients.
A big thumbs up for Earthbath Foaming Facial Cleanser!
