Are you ready to make a significant impact on the lives of shelter animals? We are looking for a passionate individual to join our team at TEARS Animal Rescue as a Kennel Coordinator. Here’s what the role entails:
ANIMAL BREEDING AND WELFARE
– Ensure the well-being of our furry residents by supervising the husbandry of the kennel.
– Monitor cleanliness, safety and exercise rotations.
– Daily wellness checks for each dog and puppy.
– Assist with veterinary consultations, vaccinations, etc.
– Assist with kennel movements, mixing and socialization of dogs.
FOOD AND MEDICINE
– Prepare and feed dogs and puppies.
– Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
– Integrate training in behavior modification during feeding.
ADOPTION GUIDE, SOCIAL VISITS AND KENNEL
– Guide potential families, visitors and donors on shelter tours.
– Assist and advise adopters, putting them in touch with suitable candidates.
– Arrange social gatherings/activities with existing pets and family members.
– Complete the online adoption contract and provide essential information to adopters.
– Promote the TEARS online store and services.
– Manage telephone requests from Kennels.
MANAGEMENT AND ORIENTATION OF VOLUNTEERS
– Maintain a positive relationship with TEARS volunteers.
– Supervise and assist kennel volunteers.
– Organize volunteer orientation for new recruits.
REHABILITATION AND TRAINING
– Ensure the physical and behavioral rehabilitation of designated dogs and puppies.
– Participate in training classes based on positive reinforcement for volunteers and staff.
– Update documentation with comments and ratings.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
– Ensure compliance with TEARS and Kennel SOPs.
– Participate in kennel events (adoption promotions, fundraising, etc.).
– Encourage engagement in TEARS initiatives.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
– A strong passion for working with dogs.
– A first experience is a plus.
– Excellent communication skills and customer service experience.
– Good command of English and creative writing skills (a plus).
– Knowledge of the characteristics, breeds and behavior of dogs.
– Strong organizational and time management skills.
– Availability on weekends and public holidays.
– Computer skills (MS Office, Google Docs, email, WhatsApp).
– Valid driving license.
