Wellness Coach Mary Baudo announced that the eighth year of her senior wellness program at Boothbay Area Health Center will begin October 23 and run through May 10.
The program focuses on topics of balance, strength, flexibility, posture and wellness. Other forms of exercise, such as chair yoga, will also be offered. There are three sessions each week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.
Classes will be held at the Southport United Methodist Church. Anyone 55 years or older is invited to register for the program. The exercises can be seated or standing, depending on your abilities. Each session includes a 15 minute ‘chalk talk’ on a wellness topic and 30 minutes of exercise, carefully monitored by Mary to ensure our form is correct for each routine.
Most program participants are veterans who have been in the program for five years or more. The dedication of this group of participants is a testament to the value we all place on this wellness program that, in fact, keeps us all fit, flexible and strong as we age. This is not a program you can “participate in”. Each participant receives three medical, physical condition and posture assessments each year, before the start, in the middle and at the end of the sessions. Fees are an affordable $50/month, paid in advance each month.
If you are new to the program and would like to learn more about how to join the group, please contact Mary Baudo directly by emailing her at marybaudo@msn.com or call her at 207-357-3563.
