Hudini is a 2 year old crossbreed male. He is looking for a home and recently traveled from a shelter in Croatia to foster care.
Hudini is a big, confident, playful and friendly goofball. He loves his toys and is totally dog friendly.
Hudini is good at home but will need someone to be there most of the day as this is the first chance he has had the opportunity to live in a house so we had to go back to basics with his training, he is like an overgrown puppy. .
Hudini likes to be brushed. Hudini needs to understand that not all other dogs want to play with him and that his foster doesn’t feel like he knows how big and bouncy he can be.
Minor possession of food, he will growl if another dog tries to pinch his treats. He will happily share his toys. Hudini eats with a slow feeder because otherwise he will gobble his food.
Hudini goes to sit down for treats. Work is needed on his manners as he can also seize from time to time. Puppy behavior tears up cardboard and plastic containers and chews on dog toys. It did not destroy or damage any furniture flooring or dog bedding.
Hudini can be left on several occasions for probably maximum around 3 hours with the other 3 dogs.
There have only been occasional accidents and minor destruction of toys or what he considers toys. Hudini has some puppy traits that need to be worked on, such as jumping for attention, chewing and nipping like a puppy does.
Hudini settles in nicely with the other dogs around 9:30-10 p.m. and sleeps on a dog bed in the kitchen. Hudini loves his long walks where he can have the opportunity to get a good head start followed by a good sniff of new areas.
Hudini is lead reactive and barks at other dogs when out and about. However, his body language suggests that it is out of enthusiasm, because when he agrees, he will happily greet other/new dogs and invite them to play immediately.
His recall requires work but he likes being in a pack and following what others are doing, he responds well to praise and rewards.
Hudini is a large, affectionate and friendly dog who would make a perfect family dog for the right family. He loves all humans and appreciates the attention of the children we met on our walks.
However, due to his puppy tendencies, I would recommend children over 12 years old, as he jumps and nips to get attention.
If you could choose the perfect home for this dog, what type of home would you choose? Family home with someone who enjoys long walks.
Ideally with another confident dog for company, to play with and show him the ropes of becoming the dog he has the potential to be.
Hudini is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
