Adirondacks Independence Music FestivalLAKE GEORGE — This three-day multi-band event will feature many of the premier touring bands currently on the festival circuit. Located on the beautiful Charles R. Wood Festival Commons in the heart of Lake George, the festival prides itself on high quality production and an incredible atmosphere that is suitable for all ages.
Festival music plays continuously on two side-by-side stages until 11 p.m. each evening. The festival will also feature a selection of beer and wine, a full bar, and the best food and merchandise vendors on the circuit.
Some of the participating bands are Dark Star Orchestra, Rubblebucket, Keller Williams, Moe, Dogs in A Pile, Eggy, and more.
The event, rain or shine, no coolers, no pets or outside food and drink allowed. Children 12 and under are free and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. An unopened water or an empty plastic bottle authorized per person as well as suitable food products. Lawn and camping chairs are allowed but cannot be bagged.

Summer Forever: an end-of-summer partyGLENS FALLS — The Charles R. Wood Theater will host an end-of-summer party this Saturday, Sept. 2 at 5 p.m. with live music from local bands.
Participating bands include Sixteen Atlantis, Tom’s House, B. Austin and Jay Mullen and The Spotters.
Tickets are available now via online presale for $10 and at the door the day of the show. The bands will take the stage at 6 p.m.
Jazz by the lakeLAKE GEORGE — Jazz at the Lake: A Graphic Design Retrospective” showcases the evolution of imagery that has complemented the annual Jazz at the Lake weekend since 2009.
Design company Gruskin Creative was founded by Ken Gruskin. With his wife Susan, they have accompanied him on weekends for 15 years.
Through the eyes of their specialist teams, they are able to see solutions that might not be apparent with ordinary design approaches. They call this process integrated design.
The results layer the beauty of Lake George over a visual representation of a jazz sensibility. The exhibition also pays tribute to the vision of Paul Pines, founder and artistic director of Jazz at the Lake from 1984 to 2018.

Haunted history at the Old Fort House MuseumFORT EDWARD — This summer, the Old Fort House Museum is offering a guided haunted history tour.
Visit the Old Fort House Museum and learn about the history of the historic house as well as tales of mysterious disappearances, ghost sightings and paranormal experiences within its walls.

Mechelle Roskiewicz Art ExhibitionLAKE GEORGE — An exhibition of Mechelle Roskiewicz art will be on view September 1 through October 31 at the Caldwell-Lake George Library.
Roskiewicz’s art reflects art, its creation or its study every day. Roskiewicz strives to learn and improve. By creating paintings of animals, birds, flowers or still lifes and exploring the techniques of different mediums, she hopes to express to the viewer the beauty and essence she sees and feels from her subjects.
This exhibition is in partnership with the Lake George Arts Project.
Series of exhibitions with jurySARATOGA — Each year, Saratoga Arts issues an open call to all artists in the Capital Region and submits applications to a jury of regional art professionals, to create a series of exhibitions by four artists.

Lake George Triathlon FestivalLAKE GEORGE — The Lake George Regional Convention and Tourism Bureau will share details of the 17th Annual Lake George Triathlon Festival hosted by Alpha Win this Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1-3.
The Lake George Triathlon Festival is a fun and competitive weekend on Lake George with a family atmosphere.
The triathlon will consist of three distances. The Alpha Sprint includes 750 meters of swimming, 12.4 miles of cycling and 3.1 miles of walking. The Alpha Sprint is for people who yearn to last a little longer while maintaining their day job.
The Alpha Olympic is a 1,500 mile swim, 24.8 mile bike and 6.2 mile run. Alpha Olympic Distance is for athletes seasoned with sprint experience and looking to go a little longer in training and racing.
The final distance is the Alpha 70.3 which includes 1.2 miles of swimming, 56 miles of cycling and 13.1 miles of running. Alpha 70.3 is where the dough starts to be spent. The cost of a bike alone is a considerable expense. And, for good reason, this distance requires several hours of training commitment per day.

Eleanor!HUDSON FALLS — Eleanor! is a comprehensive musical based on the inspiring life of Eleanor Roosevelt, “First Lady of the World”. Nellie Rustick Meier will reprise the role in 2018.
This is an original musical based on the inspiring life of Eleanor Roosevelt. Franklin Roosevelt is played by Bill Douglas. The show is written and produced by Suzanne Cohen of Greenwich and will be presented at the Strand Theater in Hudson Falls on the weekend of September 8-10.
The Friday and Saturday evening shows are at 8 p.m. and the Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. The Strand’s musical director and pianist is Elizabeth Conant, with Sheri Shevy on double bass. The rest of the cast includes Melanie Shank as Lorena Hickok, Kaleigh Green as Lucy Paige Mercer, Timothy Banfield as President Theodore Roosevelt, Dane Martin as Elliott Roosevelt, Linda Thorburn as Sara Roosevelt and Suzanne Cohen as Eleanor in later years.
