While most people would shy away from the arduous tasks of cleaning kennels in the middle of the night, bathing dirty puppies, and lifting heavy crates, ARL supporter Randy Mason is not one to back down from a challenge.
Randy’s love of animals is evident from the moment you meet him, and he proudly identifies as a dog lover, although he loves all animals. In addition to the dogs he cherished throughout his life, he also had a beloved cat named Oscar.
Currently, Randy owns an American Pit Bull Terrier mix named Stella Luna. Stella was Randy’s third rescue dog and his first Pit Bull type dog. When he met Stella, he had no preconceived ideas about her breed, he simply saw her for what she was: a truly adorable dog.
Despite a professional career as a healthcare consultant, Randy has always made time for his passion for animals by donating his time, talent and treasure to various organizations, including the ARL.
And Randy’s philanthropic spirit doesn’t stop with animals, he’s a bit of a charitable chameleon! Randy is a board member and volunteer for several organizations on many missions including hunger, conservation, social services and more!
Randy has been able to combine his professional and philanthropic experience by doing pro bono consulting work for various nonprofit organizations. Randy says it opened his eyes to how many nonprofits there are. “Name an animal or body part, and there’s probably a nonprofit to support it.”
In addition to his extensive volunteer work, Randy recently completed a certificate course in Shelter Animal Behavior Management. This demonstrates Randy’s unwavering dedication to being the best animal advocate possible and makes him an incredible asset to the ARL.
When Randy volunteers with ARL, you can find him helping at the front desk in our Dedham administration building or at our animal care and adoption centers,
help spread the word about ARL to the world at local events, or contribute to our transportation program!
Randy believes that the common thread through his various activities within ARL is the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded individuals who share his desire to make a positive impact. The shared passion and dedication of these people is a source of motivation for Randy to continue working towards a better future for people and animals in need. Whether he’s participating in a transport, making phone calls, or attending events, Randy remains committed to his mission to improve the lives of animals in need, one step at a time.
