Miss Peaches, a six-year-old American Pitbull, is stealing the hearts of not only Dave Portnoy, founder of the popular sports and pop culture blog Barstool Sports, but also social media users around the world.
And now, Miss Peaches and Dave Portnoy are using their platform to help raise money for the Atlanta-based animal rescue that saved Miss Peaches, which is Lifeline Animal Project.
Miss Peaches has its own merch page on the Barstool Store website. And her collection includes an “Adopt Don’t Shop” hoodie and t-shirt with her face and name embroidered on both.
Sports bar stool revealed in a post, 100% of the profits from the Miss Peaches collection will go directly to Lifeline Animal Project.
Portnoy tells Fox News, “We sell t-shirts. In fact, we raised about $150,000 for the dog rescue organization.
After Miss Peaches became famous, Portnoy shares that Miss Peaches Instagram pagewhich now has over 300,000 followers, is Barstool’s fastest growing social media account.
Portnoy told Fox News, “We have existed for 20 years. No one has grown up as fast (online) as Miss Peaches. She doesn’t even know she’s a superstar. It’s just the same old Miss Peaches.
His Instagram bio says: “I moved from the outhouse to the penthouse. Now I am learning to enjoy the finer things in life.
The story documents the lives together of Miss Peaches and Portnoy, starting from their first meeting on Valentine’s Day.
Lifeline Animal Project shares that Miss Peaches was originally named Dubai and was one of 27 dogs they rescued from a breeding case.
They said, “She came back from a neglect situation where we noticed she had patches of missing hair, itchy skin and obvious signs of having multiple litters of puppies.”
Luckily, a foster family from Lifeline Animal Project stepped in and took care of the sweet pooch. And in less than three weeks, Miss Peaches showed signs of recovery.
Now, ready to open a new chapter in its life, Lifeline Animal Project and Jet Wag Animal Rescue connected Miss Peaches’ foster family with Portnoy.
And on Valentine’s Day, Portnoy flew to Atlanta, and he and Miss Peaches found their Valentine in each other.
With the adoption of Miss Peaches and fundraising for Lifeline Animal Project, Portnoy reiterates the important message to “Adopt. Don’t shop” for those looking for a fur-always companion.
“I firmly believe that there are no bad dogs, only bad owners.” he said.
Portnoy adds, “I love all dogs. With so many dogs, wonderful dogs like Miss Peaches exist and need loving homes.
