Christine Room East Finally renovate it a childhood friend’s house. In the last episode of Christine on the coastthe design expert revamped the kitchen, bar, master bathroom and living room fireplace in her longtime friend’s home, after talking about it for years.
During the episode, Christina explained, “I’ve known Carlos for almost 25 years. That’s a very long time and I know Carlos very well. He’s in the mortgage business and Carlos is all involved in the business. That so it’s going to be an interesting project because Carlos has, you know, high-end tastes but he wants them “in a market.”
Carlos and his wife, Natalie, moved into their home in Anaheim Hills, California, the neighborhood where Christina grew up, five years ago. Although beautiful and spacious, the home’s interiors were a bit dated, from the original brown kitchen cabinets to the small bathtub in the bathroom. The space no longer suited the couple’s growing family and they were eager to freshen it up.
“Taking on a project with a friend can be tricky,” Christina admitted. “It could be amazing or it could be a huge challenge. And in this case, it could be a challenge.”
But it also turned out amazing. When Carlos and Natalie had differing opinions on topics such as the color of the kitchen counter and the size of the bathroom tub versus the size of the shower, Christina and her project manager, James Bender, helped to find appropriate compromises. The once-dark kitchen now features white cabinets warmed by a stone backsplash, a white oak island base and white oak flooring. A retractable kitchen window creates better indoor-outdoor flow to the yard. Nearby, the living room fireplace was transformed with the same stone used for the kitchen backsplash. The new bar area reinforces the house’s status as a party venue. And in the master bathroom, the freestanding tub, larger shower, and massive vanity create a luxurious oasis.
Today, and $209,179 later, the home has a modern feel with a rustic touch. It’s much more functional for this growing family who loves to entertain.
