HOUSTON (KIAH) — Thursday evening, Best Friends Animal Society hosted a meet-and-greet event for mayoral and local candidates running in the November election.
It was an opportunity for candidates to introduce themselves and talk about their plans to solve Houston’s animal overpopulation problem if elected. Overall, the goal is to explain why it is so important to make Houston a no-kill city.
Local elections have a huge impact on animal-related topics, such as animal shelter priorities, keeping pets and families together, spay and neuter programs, and the hiring process for shelters to maintain a high level of shelter service.
