In just a few weeks, Rach and I will become parents for the first time.
No, no other dog or cat, but a real human child!
We are more than excited, but of course also a little nervous.
This is going to be a big adjustment here, and the puppies are going to have to learn to share some of the attention. (Don’t worry, they’ll still get plenty!)

So what are we going to do on those occasions when Harley and Charlie are jealous of all the noise the new baby is going to make?
Flavorit BarkBone Review
Well, as luck would have it, our friends at Pet Qwerks I just sent over some new products for the boys to try out – and they might be the perfect thing to keep the dogs stimulated and entertained while we get used to our new lives!

Introducing Flavorit Pet Qwerks Bark Bones!
You may remember our previous review of Flavorit Bones?
These nylon dog chews come in a wide variety of flavors and are designed for aggressive chewers.
Over time, they wear lightly and gently clean teeth and gums.
One of the most interesting things about Flavorit Bones is their “taste cells”.
![Aromatic cells filled with almond butter spread](https://sp-ao.shortpixel.ai/client/to_auto,q_glossy,ret_img,w_770,h_514/https://puppyintraining.com/wp-content/uploads/Flavorit-Grinch-Feet-770x514.jpg)
These little round cavities are molded directly into the plastic and are designed to accept peanut butter, cheese, or your dog’s favorite spread.
This makes the bones even more attractive to your dog!
What’s different about BarkBones?
Well, the new line of FlavoritBarkBone have a curved design, making them much easier to grip or manipulate with their paws while chewing.
![BarkBones are a curved version of Flavorit dog chews.](https://sp-ao.shortpixel.ai/client/to_auto,q_glossy,ret_img,w_770,h_514/https://puppyintraining.com/wp-content/uploads/Curved-Dog-Chew-770x514.jpg)
Flavorit Barkbones come in 3 sizes and 3 flavors – Mint Wood, Peanut Butter, and Mesquite Chicken.
Just like the original Flavorit Bones, these are also made right here in America!
What about aroma cells?
Don’t worry, they’re still there, and they’re on BOTH sides for double the flavor action!
Pet Qwerks sent us a large version of each bone to try – so let’s see what the boys thought…

Flavorit BarkBone Wood Review with Mint Flavor
Don’t believe it, this dog chew is partially made from real wood – which is mixed and incorporated into the polymer itself.
On top of that, it has been infused with mint flavor to help freshen your dog’s breath!
One of the first things you’ll notice about these BarkBones is that you can smell them before you even open the package.
That’s because they include a little sniffer window right at the back! How cool is this?!
![Smell the flavor before opening the package thanks to the sniffing window!](https://sp-ao.shortpixel.ai/client/to_auto,q_glossy,ret_img,w_770,h_514/https://puppyintraining.com/wp-content/uploads/Pet-Qwerks-Made-in-USA-770x514.jpg)
Pet Qwerks suggests the wood variety for medium-strength chewers, so we thought it might be best to give it to Charlie first.
He’s not as powerful as Harley and he loves chew sticks too!
![Harley and Charlie work on BarkBones for MyDogLikes' latest dog chew product review.](https://sp-ao.shortpixel.ai/client/to_auto,q_glossy,ret_img,w_770,h_561/https://puppyintraining.com/wp-content/uploads/Enjoying-their-New-Dog-Chews-770x561.jpg)
It didn’t take any convincing (or spreading the flavor) to get Charlie to nibble on this chew.
Excitedly, he took it from my hand and sat down.
He continued for about 15 minutes until I noticed a small piece had come off…
![Be sure to supervise your dog while he chews and remove the bone if he manages to break off a piece!](https://sp-ao.shortpixel.ai/client/to_auto,q_glossy,ret_img,w_770,h_459/https://puppyintraining.com/wp-content/uploads/Broken-off-Piece-770x459.jpg)
A note on BarkBone security
The photo on the left shows normal chewing wear.
The ends of your bones should become rough and frayed during use.
The materials used are non-toxic, so you don’t have to worry if tiny fragments are ingested.
That being said (as with all chew toys), you’ll want to keep an eye on your dog as he enjoys these toys.
If a larger piece breaks, there may be a choking or blockage hazard!
The photo on the right shows a piece that Charlie broke off that we wouldn’t want him to ingest, so we removed it.
We were prepared for this though, knowing that this particular strain is recommended for MODERATE chewers – which our boys are not!
Just use common sense and make sure you choose the most suitable variety for your dog’s size and chewing strength.
Peanut Butter Flavorit BarkBone Goodbye
Next up is the peanut butter flavored BarkBone, designed for aggressive chewers.
This bone smells strongly of peanut butter and this fact was not lost on our boys.
Luckily for Harley, it was her turn!
![Harley works on a peanut butter flavored nylon dog bone](https://sp-ao.shortpixel.ai/client/to_auto,q_glossy,ret_img,w_770,h_514/https://puppyintraining.com/wp-content/uploads/Pet-Qwerks-Review-770x514.jpg)
Once again he didn’t need any prodding to chew, so we decided to save the flavor cells for another time!
Harley really liked the contour of his bone as he was able to easily flip it over and hold it steady with his paws.
This also made it easy for him to pick it up off the floor when he wanted to take it to another room.
![It's a tough life being a dog product tester at MyDogLikes!](https://sp-ao.shortpixel.ai/client/to_auto,q_glossy,ret_img,w_770,h_514/https://puppyintraining.com/wp-content/uploads/Tough-Dog-Chews-770x514.jpg)
Neither Harley nor Charlie were able to cause any significant damage to this bone after their first few sessions – which is a strong endorsement from 2 heavy chewers!
This is clearly the most suitable model for dogs of our size and chewing style, but for smaller or less aggressive dogs we also highly recommend the wooden version.
Charlie loved it before he broke off a little piece!
Why MyDogLikes Flavorit BarkBones
Depending on what’s going on in your life, it can be difficult to find the time to give your dog the exercise and mental stimulation he really needs.
We’re about to find out in a big way when the new baby arrives next month!
Interactive toys like these Flavorit BarkBones can be the perfect solution when life gets in the way.
Not only will they help burn off some of the pent-up energy, but they will allow your dog to use his brain to figure out how to manipulate the bones to get rid of all that precious flavor!
As we mentioned above, you should always keep an eye on your dog, but toys like this can be a lifesaver when you have your hands full and want to reward your pup with a special surprise.
We anticipate ours will be heavily used over the next few months!
